CBT & THE LAW

 The Law 

To ride a moped you must be 16 or over.  To ride a motorcycle you must be 17 or over.  From the 01.11.97 you must successfully completed Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) before you can ride on the road as a learner.  You  must also have passed a Theory test and Hazard Perception test before proceeding to take your Part 2 test this applies to full car licence holders from 1st February 2001.  There are 4 licence schemes available: A1 Light Licence A Standard Licence or if you are over 21  Direct Access or Accelerated Access.

CBT

As required by Government Legislation from 1.1.1997 you must successfully complete a CBT before you are allowed to ride a motorcycle on the road up to a 125cc as a learner, this applies to full car licence holders as well.

The CBT is guaranteed but if you fail on your 1st attempt all further tuition is FREE until you reach the required standard ( the only charge is £60 for bike hire and insurance).

CBT               £129 including bike hire and insurance

                     £109 using own bike
